Why Choose Performance Engineers?

Founded by James B. Malewitz P.E as sole proprietor in 1990, Performance Engineers has gained a reputation for serving clients and communities effectively. Our staff assists clients in the assessment of their needs and provides individualized service to meet the challenges of each unique project. Performance Engineers incorporated in 1998 and is currently controlled by three partners.

As a civil/structural engineering firm, Performance Engineers, Inc. provides a comprehensive array of related services to a wide client base including cities, townships, villages, private developers, architects, and individual property owners.

Performance Engineers, Inc. has been the Engineer of Record on several landmark projects in northwestern Michigan. These include the Charlevoix East Park project, which has been named as one of America's Best Public Spaces by the American Planning Association, the multi-use redevelopment of the former One Water Street site in Boyne City, and the "Kaliseum" in Kalkaska.

We continually seek to improve the way in which we do business. As a result of this effort, we have added staff, upgraded the technologies that we utilize to complete our work, and improved the efficiency of our work product.

Another key to our continued success is the fact that Performance Engineers, Inc. is large enough to be responsive to our client's needs and is able to assign project personnel that have backgrounds consistent with a specific project. Yet, our firm is also small enough to be able to include oversight and input from a principal engineer within our firm.

It is our belief that communication between our staff and clients is the key to efficient, creative design. Performance Engineers, Inc. works with the owner to develop a conceptual design, then collaborates to finalize the project using a system of individual task responsibilities for designers and project engineers with oversight by one of the senior engineers or principals. It is this two-way flow of information that leads to design efficiency, maintaining schedules, and cost control.

In addition, Performance Engineers, Inc. has extensive knowledge and expertise in the following specialized areas:
